Preparing for Live Musical Performances

As I have said in one of my past blog posts, one of the main ways in which I make money is by staging live musical performances. And my live performances have often been described as being ‘solid, energetic performances’. Those are not my words: various objective reviewers have described my performances in that way, and I am greatly flattered. Now a question I am frequently asked is as to how I prepare for the performances, so as to end up with such ‘solid, energetic performances’. The last time I was asked this question was actually a couple of weeks ago, during a TV interview.

One thing I pay a lot of attention to when preparing for live musical performances is practice. This is what gives rise to a ‘solid’ performances. What I am making reference to here is not just practice for myself, but also practice for the entire crew I perform with. The practice sessions can be hard work, but I am consoled by the fact that it is work that I love. I can’t compare it with, say, having to arrange stuff on racks at a Walmart outlet, on a day in day out basis, in exchange for a Walmartone paycheck. Practicing for live musical performances is fun, and that is what matters.

Another thing I pay a lot of attention to, when preparing for live musical performances, is nutrition. This is what gives rise to the ‘energetic’ performances. So I ensure that I get to eat wholesome stuff, at least for the few days preceding live performances. I ensure that the crew I am to perform with get similar wholesome nutrition, at my expense, so as to ensure that everyone is well-prepared.

Yet another thing I do, when preparing for live musical performances, is to ensure that I am well-rested. At least, on the night before the live musical performance, I ensure that I get truly adequate sleep. This ensures that I look good, and that I am in good mood for the performance.
